Paul Malone : Tanker Triptychs

Tanker Triptych: 00-3x23-3657 (Barium-Plasma-Neon) in museum case
Acrylic tube, print on acetate, acrylic inserts, Bachman fixtures, nickel-silver ladder and walkway
Tanker wagons 3x 23cms length. 82 x 12 x 6 cms in museum case.

These wagons are a triptych assembly of the 23cms tankers containing content interpretations along a single conceptual theme. Essentially to do with observations and theories of the night sky, the concepts are assembled to produce 'trains of thought'. Though they are capable of being run around a layout this version is usually confined to the museum box. In essence they are literal 'models' of these theories and illustrate associated morphologies, mechanics and spatial distributions.

This series of artworks function as a model of the night sky in the form of engineered artifacts. As such, they emulate the way that theories and concepts are constructed about remote objects, events in cosmology and associated meta-narratives.

Please see my section on Installations to see how I have approached this aspect using aerial trackways.
