Paul Malone : Movies : The Great Arc

'The Great Arc'. Still from movie. 2016
The Great Arc was a project begun in 1800 to triangulate India. Completed by the surveyor George Everest (after whom the mountain was named) the project took 50 years to complete and claimed the lives of many on the survey team from malaria, scorpions and tigers. This movie consists of an observation of standing water waves and how they form their own ‘Himalaya’ that is constantly in flux according to the changing fluid dynamics. Accompanying the imagery is a description of the Great Arc project in the form of manipulated ‘text to speech’ synthesis. Music by Paul Malone
